Notes from file: Shears belonged to Frank Barlow’s father, Adam Barlow. Though gifted to Frank by his father as a ceremonial “passing of the shears,” Frank admitted in his autobiography to placing little value on them until later in life, when he started his clothing company, Wolf’s Apparel. During his time as the head of that company, the shears were kept in a shadowbox on the wall behind his desk. Frank’s grandson, Ed Barlow, sold them to this archivist for $20.00 after failing to sell them on eBay as “The Shears That Started A Clothing Empire.”
